The guy kind of reminds me of the creepy dude off the movie The Strangers.
Martin Backes crated the pixelated mask to "act as a media camouflage". Basically making sure your face is unrecognizable when your out in public. The mask would make Google Earth's job a lot easier by already pixelating you face.
